Three Settings from 'Writing with Tagore' for Soprano, String Quartet and Dancer
This work was dedicated to South Indian Bharatanatyam artist Ranee Ramaswamy. It may also be performed without the dance.
Gitanjali (Song Offerings) celebrates the poetic vision of Rabinath Tagore in three settings of James Moore’s Writing with Tagore. The work was premiered at the Flea Theater in New York City as part of the American Composers Alliance American Music Festival 2005 and featured Ranee Ramaswamy from Ragamala Dance Theater as choreographer/dancer, Nancy Ogle, soprano, and the Sirius String Quartet. The length of the work is 13 minutes.
