Matthew Welch’s Tomorrow’s Memories: A Little Manila Diary a choral-opera for The San Francisco Girls Chorus WORLD PREMIERE JUNE 16-18

The San Francisco Girls Chorus, under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Valérie Sainte-Agathe, presents the world premiere of Tomorrow’s Memories: A Little Manila Diary, a new SFGC-commissioned choral-opera from American composer Matthew Welch

A collaborative project three years in the making, this semi-staged work, featuring SFGC's award-winning Premier Ensemble, is based on the 1924-1928 diary writings of Filipina immigrant Angeles Monrayo and highlights the importance of the Filipino diaspora’s cultural impact throughout the United States, particularly in the Bay Area. Featured guest artists for this program include stage director Sean San José, guitarist Florante Aguilar, percussionist Haruka Fujii, and solo violinist Adrianna Mateo.

“The music tries to illustrate both the feelings of a child and the intersections of sound in 1920s Filipino American communities” - Matthew Welch.

Magic Theatre 2 Marina Boulevard San Francisco, CA 94123

Tomorrow's Memories: A Little Manila Diary is supported in part by the Creative Work Fund, MAP Fund, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
